DECEMBER 2018

Never forgotten
On the morning of November 11, Tideswell again stood and remembered the 75 men from Tideswell, Cressbrook, Litton, Millers Dale and Wheston who lost their lives in the First World War, together with those who were sacrificed in other conflicts.
Planning encouragement
The adjacent parishes of Great Hucklow and Foolow have been designated as a new Neighbourhood Area by the Peak District National Park Authority. This is claimed to be an important first step in allowing local communities to influence planning for where people live and work.
Put yer tin 'ats on
Trevor Hall, 91-years-old and blind, is the author of a new book that tells of the men and women from Tideswell and the wider Peak District who have fought in wars to protect their country. A life-long Tideswell resident, Trevor's illustrated book 'Put Yer Tin 'Ats On' is on sale locally, with proceeds after costs going to good causes.
Discovery trail at Millers Dale
Local children are being encouraged to have fun while they sample the delights of nature in a new discovery trail at Millers Dale. The one-mile route takes in part of the Monsal Trail and a footpath alongside the River Wye.
Council calling
A vacancy for a Tideswell Parish Councillor has occurred, an opportunity for someone to help work on projects to maintain or improve the village. Clerk Hannah Owen said it is a varied and interesting role.
December's was another packed edition of The Village Voice: available digitally.

Less than six months after taking over partial responsibility for the Buxton to Sheffield route 65 bus service, High Peak Buses is pulling out, blaming disappointing passenger numbers. Thankfully, there are no signs of the other operator, Stagecoach, discontinuing. The every-day return services pass through Millers Dale, Litton, Tideswell, Great Hucklow, Foolow, Eyam, Grindleford, Fox House, Sheffield and Meadowhall.
